Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider handles the query and returns its result. Louisiana Court Docket does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we retain the message to respond. It is kept within our organization and is not shared outside it unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, our servers may record technical details about the visit, such as:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Small cookie files may be stored on your device so we can understand how people use the site, including which pages draw visits and where use stops. Analytics services help combine those traffic signals. Browser settings can block cookies, although some site features may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Operating the site and improving its speed
- Forwarding a search request to the provider that runs the tool
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Louisiana Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile or sell a database of case files or personal court-record information. Its material explains where Louisiana records are kept and how to reach eClerks LA, the courts and the local clerks in the state's 64 parishes. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data collected for site operations is not assembled into a report about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered in a partner tool is handled under that provider's privacy policy and retention or sharing rules. Louisiana Court Docket does not control those practices. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links on this site lead to Louisiana clerk offices, court portals, the statewide index, legal aid groups and outside search providers. Once a link is followed, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before sharing personal information.
Some advertising partners may use cross-site activity to choose ads. That tracking occurs on their platforms, outside our control.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold by us. Information may be shared with:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
- Advertising networks that place ads on the site
- Search providers that process queries submitted to their tools
- Analytics services that measure traffic and site performance
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for information collected through the site. No internet-connected system is risk-free, however, so we cannot guarantee that a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has provided information, and we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Louisiana's Public Records Law, La. R.S. 44:1 et seq., governs access to public records held by public custodians. It does not give access to visitor information kept by this private site. Court-file inspection is separately addressed by La. C.C.P. art. 251. For information held by Louisiana Court Docket, visitors may ask us to:
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Receive a copy of information we hold about them
- Delete information where it can be removed
- Opt out of certain data processing where available
